BIAV OLYMPIC CONNECTIONS

With Olympics all the go at the moment, we’d like to say well done to BIAV’s Olympic connections.

Sam and Will Phillips who made the Australian team in the 49er class, and finished 12th overall, are the sons of The Wooden Boat Shop Tim Phillips. Great effort to get to the Olympics and to compete so well, and at one stage to have been in third place.

Dylan Pierias of the Olyroos is the son of long time member and boat show exhibitor Phil Pierias of Port Phillip Boating Centre

And its happy 21st to Mark Turnbull’s gold medal that he won in the Sydney Olympics. Mark, BIAV member of New Tack Consulting, won in the 470 class, which Matt Belcher and Will Ryan are likely to snare for Australia in Tokyo. (They have an unassailable lead going into the final race!).

And no doubt BIAV Life member Alistair Murray and his company Ronstan will be on an Olympic high after years of supporting the team to the two gold medals. They’ve helped the young aspiring sailors come through with equipment and other support for a long time.
