Stronger, Together - BIAV Joining BIA Ltd – Update
On Saturday 30 July at the Sydney International Boat Show, BIA Ltd President Andrew Fielding and Boating Industry Association of Victoria President Eleni Savva signed a Heads of Agreement to keep working towards the joining together of the two bodies.
This was another significant step for the boating industry with regard to the Stronger Together process. It followed the various member meetings, presentations, circulations and surveys, during the first half of this year, and now paves the way for further legal and accounting due diligence, as well as preparations for a member vote at an SGM in the near future.
Representatives from both BIAV and BIA Ltd were on-deck to take part in the signing and photographed are (LtoR) Andrew Scott (BIA Ltd Finance Manager), Adam Smith (BIA Ltd V-President), Steve Walker (BIAV CEO), Nik Parker (BIA Ltd General Manager), Andrew Fielding (BIA Ltd President), Eleni Savva (BIAV President), Scott O’Hare (BIAV V-President), and Neil Patchett (BIA Ltd GM). Photographed signing are Eleni and Andrew.
Eleni Savva commented “It is great to reach this point after several months of liaising with BIA Ltd, as well as with our members, and exploring the potential of this opportunity with them.” Adding “I’d like to thank my fellow Board members and our CEO for all of the work to this point. In particular the focus on the best interests of our members and the industry as a whole has been fantastic.”
Andrew Fielding commented “With a commitment to serve our members, providing the best possible level of support, advocacy across all levels of government and nationwide industry promotion, on Saturday the Boating Industry Association Ltd. and the Boating Industry Association of Victoria took a major step forward in committing to merging and becoming a united, strong and passionate peak body for Australia’s recreational boating industry. Congratulations to all involved, this is a great day for our Industry.”
