GOTAFE ENROLMENTS ON PAUSE

Whilst GoTAFE are currently unable to enroll additional apprentices into MEM 30719 Marine Craft Construction, the currently enrolled 80 (approx.) apprentices will continue to be serviced and supported.

There remains one full time teacher, and one casual, who is transitioning from full time, and they will continue to work with apprentices and employers.

GoTAFE are looking to secure additional teacher resource, and would prefer to recruit an already qualified teacher, rather than a boat builder that would then have to undertake the teacher component of their own training. If you know anyone, please contact Craig Murphy at GoTAFE or stevew@biavic.com.au. Enrolments will certainly re-commence once the teaching resource is added to.

Meanwhile, employers that need and wish to take on a person/s who would ordinarily be an apprentice they could take them on as an Assistant, or other suitable title, start them on the journey, and await GoTAFE enrolments to recommence. This prior learning that is provided on the job would likely accelerate their competency based requirements once at GoTAFE, and they may well end up completing their apprenticeship in the same timeframe.

Other options for enrolling into MEM30719 interstate can be found at Australian Government My Skills.

The top priority is for GOTAFE to secure additional teaching resource. If you have any leads, please contact stevew@biavic.com.au and it will be relayed to GOTAFE.
