LOCKDOWN FURTHER INFO RE BOATING/FISHING - 31 MAY - SLIGHT UPDATE

BIAV understands that activities such as boating and fishing are permitted so long as -

  • It’s within 5km from your home

  • 2 hours maximum per day

  • With your household or one other person (as long as neither of you travel more than 5km from your home)

  • You must wear a mask at all times

In terms of fishing the Government’s website states -

Can I participate in recreational activities like fishing and boating?

Recreational fishing and boating are permitted, as long as it doesn't require use of a facility (the opening of a closed jetty or pier) and within 5km of your home, for up to 2 hours once per day, and with members of your household or one other person.

(This being the case, it is assumed that currently open, and covid-safe public and private facilities, can be utilised to access the water.)

We also seek advice as to whether boat owners can go beyond 5km to check on their boat for safety and protection if it is in a marina or on a mooring. Presume yes, but await confirmation.
