REVIEW OF MARCUS AND CLARKES BEACONS

Maritime Safety Victoria (MSV) is currently undertaking a review as to the navigational purpose and necessity of the Marcus Hill Beacon and Clarkes Beacon located at Queenscliff. MSV’s major interest is as to whether the beacons are a vital/important or necessary aid to navigation.

It is also noted that the beacons have dual roles namely:

  • providing a direction/ transit across the Heads, and

  • marking the boundary of the Port Phillip Heads Marine National Park..

Any feedback or comments could be directed Marine Safety Victoria or via BIAV at stevew@biaic.com.au
