Neil James has been appointed to the BIAV Board as one of the Board’s two Appointed Directors. Neil will replace the outgoing Alistair Murray AM, following Alistair’s distinguished period on the Board and as chair of the BIAV Finance Committee.

Whilst acknowledging and thanking Alistair on his excellent service to the Board and to the industry, President David Meehan welcomed Neil. “Neil has a great deal of high level business experience, is really well connected, and is a highly respected person. He’s also a passionate boater and I’m sure he’ll be a great addition to our Board” said Meehan.

Neil currently works as General Manager at Mind Works in Geelong. This follows a long and decorated period at RACV culminating in the General Manager Leisure Products and New Product Development role for the latter for four years. It was in this role that Neil was instrumental in establishing the RACV Marine and Melbourne Boat Show connection. Neil also oversaw the development of the marine products section of RACV.

Well respected by government Neil was recently invited to join the Ministers Stakeholder Reference Group, to help guide Better Boating Victoria and the Minister through the challenges of boating reform and governance improvement. Neil also served the Coast Guard as a volunteer for many years.

Neil will commence in the role as of the 23 June AGM.
