BOAT LOVERS' SILENT AUCTION

BIAV invites you to take part in the inaugural Boat Lovers’ Silent Auction. 

This is a fantastic opportunity to get in front of 10s of thousands of boat and boating lovers, in a unique and innovative way, and also, a great opportunity to support your Industry Body, the BIAV.   

Contribute a product to the auction, at cost, or as close to cost as possible, or if you like, even below cost. This price will form the reserve price. Once bids reach the reserve the product is on the market. Monies up to the reserve are yours and monies above the reserve will support the ongoing activities of the BIAV.  Only items where bids reach or exceed the reserve will be sold at the auction.

The days are getting longer with the onset of Spring and it will not be long before boating and fishing will be back in full swing.  International and domestic travel restrictions are in place, and Victorians will be staying local and looking for fun activities to do with friends and family. They will be looking to discover or re-discover boating.    

As you know, we have just launched the Discover Boating platform with an enhanced consumer campaign to reach: 

  • Current boaters to increase their involvement 

  • Lapsed boaters to get back into it, and  

  • Potential new boaters to Discover Boating.  

The Boat Lovers’ Silent Auction will complement this campaign and reach out to these target groups.

How to be part of this great initiative:

  • PRODUCTS: 
    Any products from BIAV members are welcome to be included, no item too big or small. Just some examples of products you could provide are: 

    • Fishing rods or other equipment 

    • Wake, Ski or other towsport equipment 

    • Marine related electronics 

    • Engine or other types of Service 

    • Any type of boat – large, small / power, sail, paddle, pontoon, house 

    • Outboard Motor 

    • Boat Packages 

    • Marina berths 

    • Memberships 

    • Clothing 

    • Safety packs 

    • And more …………

  • RESERVE PRICE 

    • Cost or as close to cost price as possible. Or even below  

    • Once bids reach the reserve price the item will be on the market 

    • If there is no bid at or above the reserve, the item will not be sold

    • Monies up to the reserve are yours. Monies above the reserve will support the ongoing activities of the BIAV 
       

  • WHO CAN BID: Entry is open to Australian residents 18 years or over.
     

  • PAYMENT: The winning bidder will pay the winning bid to the Contributor for the item.  BIAV will invoice the contributor the amount above the reserve as the auction ‘commission’.
     

  • PRODUCT COLLECTION: The winning bidder will collect their purchase from the contributor or liaise with the contributor on delivery of the item.
     

  • PROMOTION: An extensive campaign will put this opportunity in front of 10s of thousands of boat and boating lovers. This will include an extensive EDM and social media campaign to the databases of BIAV, Discover Boating, Melbourne Boat Show and all of the auction item Contributors. There will also be reach into the boating media and various publications, and media releases to reach a mainstream audience.
