PRESIDENTIAL TRANSITION
Presidential Transition
The Boating Industry Association of Victoria has a new President in Mercury’s David Meehan.
David takes on the role in an interim basis, through until the April 2020 AGM, following the departure of Mark Crockford from the role.
Mark Crockford has been President for two and a half years and in that time has been credited with a number of achievements. These include the revised and improved financial model for the association, stronger member relations, a new constitution suitable for the times, and a clear strategic plan taking the association forward. Mark’s departure from the role relates to his departure from Nautilus Marine Insurance (NMI), as he transitions from that role, to his next career stage. No longer the NMI representative to BIAV, Mark sensed that it was appropriate that he vacate the role, and that the elected members of the Board choose a new President.
At its 21 October meeting the Board did just that, and elected David Meehan. David transitions from the vice-presidency, a role he has held since the 2019 AGM. He is also a member of the BIAV membership Committee and has been on the Board for almost three years making a significant contribution.
As Director of Sales for Mercury Marine (Australia, New Zealand, Pacific), David is heavily engaged in BIAV business at all levels, as well as with the industry and boat shows nationally and beyond.
CEO Steve Walker thanked the outgoing president Mark Crockford, noting his enormous contribution to the association and the industry. Wishing him all the best for his time after NMI and BIAV. Walker went on to welcome David Meehan to the role, indicating that it will be great to work with David through to the 2020 AGM, driving the industry and BIAV forward.
