TRIMMERS PROGRESS

The 32-strong cohort of training trimmers/upholsterers today visited Peninsula Marine Covers. The group were educated and entertained by the team there, lead by Jason, who is photographed addressing them. Also captured with BIAV CEO Steve Walker are PMC’s Kerry and Lee.

Jason outlined some of the great opportunities across the industry, the likelihood of plentiful work, and showcased his latest technologies and techniques. Jason described his journey from auto trimming to marine, when his then 30-year old boss (he was 20ish himself), said he was too old to change! So Jason transitioned without him and hasn’t looked back. The cohort are part of the Take A Seat With Us project that BIAV is supporting and driving, along with Holmesglen, Vic Government, Caravans, Furnishings, Textiles, and Auto. “The cohort are enthused and motivated so I hope our other members with trimming needs are set and ready to take several of them on as they graduate.” said BIAV’s Steve Walker. “We need to address our mid to long term skills issues and this will greatly help”, he added.
