HR ITEMS FROM 1 JULY - CHECKLIST

BIAV’s HR advisors, HR Advice Online urge all BIAV members to note that as the end of the financial year quickly approaches, it is important to remember some key changes. Please consider your compliance in line with current and new legislation: 

  • National minimum wage and all modern award minimum wage rates increase by 3.75% from 1 July 2024.Minimum wage will become $915.90 per week or $24.10 per hour.

  • Superannuation guarantee increases by 0.5%, making the general superannuation guarantee 11.50% for the period 1 July 2024 – 30 June 2025.

  • From 1 July 2024, Registered organisations will be able to apply for an exemption certificate from the Commission to waive the 24 hour notice period for entry to investigate suspected underpayments.

  • The Commonwealth Work Health and Safety Act will be amended from 1 July 2024 to introduce industrial manslaughter as a new criminal offence and other significant penalty increases.

Not to be forgotten that from the 26 August 2024, further changes will apply including:

  • Changes to casual employment

  • Right to disconnect to be introduced (for non-small business employers)

  • New definition of employment

  • Additional workplace delegates rights
