ROADMAP UPDATE 27/9

From 11.59pm on Tuesday 28 September.

In regional Victoria:

  • outdoor settings for restaurants and cafes will see the outdoor venue cap increase from 20 to 30 people

  • masks may be removed if the service requires it in hair and beauty salons, including for facials and beard trimmings.

In metropolitan Melbourne and regional areas in lockdown:

  • contactless, outdoor recreation can resume, such as boating, tennis or golf

  • the 10km radius for exercise and shopping will expand to 15km

  • personal training will be able to take place with five fully vaccinated people outside, plus a fully vaccinated trainer

  • additional restrictions on playgrounds will be lifted.

Separately, the Chief Health Officer has advised the City of Greater Geelong and Surf Coast Shire can exit lockdown at 11:59pm tonight, 26 September 2021.

From last week -

BIAV members will no doubt be across the ‘roadmap’ announced yesterday (19/9) including the various vaccination related targets.

Here are links to what the Victorian Government has announced and to a one page summary of  Victoria's roadmap.

With an emphasis on boats, boating and the boating industry, a few brief things –

  • Retail. No current change for Metro. However at 70% double dosed (ind. 26/10) it can open for outdoor service only (plus contactless click and collect/delivery).

    • For Regional, retail will be open from 80% single dosed (ind. 26/9), if not already.

  • Permitted work and workers. No current changes.

  • Boating and Fishing. Currently up to 10km/4 hours for Metro. However at 80% single dosed (ind. 26/9) this to increase to 15km. Then at 70% double dosed (ind. 26/10) an increase to 25km. Please note BIAV has requested that there be an allowance for nearest access point to the water, for those that do not live within these distances.

    • Also, at 80% single dosed (ind. 26/9) this to increase to 5 people from 2 households if all persons aged 18 or older are fully vaccinated.

    • Regional, at 80% single dosed (ind. 26/9), outdoors up to 20 people, open.

  • Events. There is great detail and criteria in relation to public events for the remainder of 2021. BIAV will carefully consider 2021 possibilities, noting that a February 2022 back up date has been ‘penciled’ for the Discover Boating Showcase.

BIAV shares your frustration with some aspects of this ‘roadmap’ and will do all it can to facilitate BIAV businesses continuing to function. If you have any observations, ideas or concerns, please contact BIAV CEO Steve Walker stevew@biavic.com.au.
