EDUCATION ACTIVITIES 2021
BIAV is facilitating a series of important industry education initiatives over these current three months.
HeadStart Apprenticeships
As detailed below, the HeadStart ‘encore’ presentation is happening this week. This is a great opportunity for members to find out about this state-of-the-art apprenticeship placement program. Click here to RSVP to attend.
South East Careers Expo - Try-A-Trade Day
On April 27 BIAV will facilitate a 150 sqm site at the South East Careers Expo, which is expected to attract up to 4,000 upper-secondary students. The students will be exposed to numerous professions and trades and we hope to position the boating industry and its career options very favourably. Boats, engines, equipment, videos and other items will be on display and, we thank in advance, Concept Fibres, Mercury, Anchor Marine, Cranbourne BC, GoTAFE, Gippsland Ports and HeadStart, for being involved and creating what we expect to be a great site. If there is a marine trimming business that can take part please sing out as this is currently a missing piece. Email stevew@biavic.com.au if so.
Industry Immersion Day
On May 20, BIAV will then host, with the support of Sandringham Yacht Club and HeadStart, a boating/marine industry specific Industry Immersion Day. This will take place at the club and feature multiple industry professionals/trades, showing there work to the 100 invited students, also of upper secondary level. The plan being to sharpen their interest in a related career and help address our current shortage of young people coming into apprenticeships and traineeships. Please contact stevew@biavic.com.au if you’d like to get involved and add value to this really important initiative.
