VALE Terry O’Hare 1934 -2021

Passed away peacefully with family at 87

Terry had many business interests, including the transport industry, specialist heavy duty smash repairs, specialist vehicle manufacturing, property development, random product manufacturing, motor racing; including 1 land speed record attempt and breaking the truck land speed record in 1978 with Waltzing Matilda the world’s first jet truck, he was involved in a touring car race team, had two restaurants, and owned the world’s biggest Seaplane fleet.

Specific to the marine industry – Paradise Point Marina QLD, Anchorage Marina, Aussie Boat Sales, Knights Slipway, restored and operated the M.V Melburnian (commercial Yarra river) involvement in the 1983 Victorian Americas Cup challenge, RYCV committee member, RVMYC member, QCYC member, Avid yachtsman with 3 Sydney Hobarts, (1 class win) 2 Melbourne Hobarts, Melbourne Devonport, 10 Hamilton Islands (Sailed from Melbourne), 25 + Geelong race weeks, Darwin to Ambon, a circumnavigation of Australia, Bermuda Classic and hundreds of other races and cruising trips.

He employed thousands of people, raised millions of dollars for numerous charities’, assisted hundreds of people in business and kept himself active, and busy right up until he passed.

He will be sadly missed, but remembered for his amazing work ethic, entrepreneurial spirit, and his many successful achievements. An amazing life well lived……. RIP
