Following a recent state government Cabinet re-shuffle by the Premier Daniel Andrews, we are sorry to advise that Jaala Pulford will move on to other challenging portfolios in the areas of employment, small business and innovation. BIAV has enjoyed working with Minister Pulford as the first ever Minister for Boating and at this time recognise her many achievements during the 18-months since the 2018 election.

These include, however are not limited to the establishment of Better Boating Victoria, commencing the governance review of boat ramp management, initiating the six election promise up-grades, commencing a strategic planning process, bringing in free parking/launching at boat ramps, financially supporting two significant boat show events, and “ensuring a record $47.2m investment in the 19/20 state budget goes to recreational boating related projects”.

“We are delighted however that the new Fishing and Boating Minister is Melissa Horne”

We are delighted however that the new Minister is Melissa Horne. Minister Horne is the member for Williamstown and is no stranger to boating and Victoria’s waterways. In Minister Horne’s role as Ports Minister, which she retains, we have had very positive dealings with her with respect to the Williamstown wave surge issue, a Williamstown boating event, and with regard to the Warmies boat ramp announcement of statewide free launching/parking.

We welcome Minister Horne to the role and look forward to working very positively with her.
