VFA'S GOLDEN TAG COMPETITION IS BACK AND BETTER THAN EVER

The Victorian Fisheries Authority’s Golden Tag competition is back and better than ever providing fishers opportunities to reel in a winner across the state.

The competition aims to boost tourism to regional Victoria to support regional towns and businesses. After months of lockdown, Victorian’s are eager to wet a line.

Now is the perfect time to plan a fishing trip and support Victoria’s recovery.

There are more than 1,000 fish released as part of the Golden tag competition. Approximately, 950 fish have already been released at $2,000 each. More than 20 new fish worth $10,000 each and an extra 50 fish worth $2,000 will be released. 

The competition has been expanded to include:

  • Gippsland (Marlo, Bemm River, Tamboon Inlet, Lakes Tyers, Gippsland Lakes and Mallacoota)

  • North East and Alpine regions

  • Portland

  • Rocklands Reservoir

  • Lake Purrumbete and Lake Bullen Merri

  • Lindsay River and Kings Billabong

  • Lake Eildon
