Following an incident on Grand Final Public Holiday Eve where an owner and his passengers were adversely affected by CO on the Yarra on a Sports Cruiser, MSV have just issued a Safety Alert in relation to Carbon Monoxide Poisoning on boats.

The high risk factors in vessels

  • Inboard petrol engines

  • Presence of multiple powered appliances such as heaters, stoves, generators, refrigerators etc

  • Modifications that impede airflow, such as canopies and screens installed around the cockpit
