Crockford Named as New President of BIA Victoria


Mark Crockford of Nautilus Insurance is BIA Victoria’s new President.

The Boating Industry Association of Victoria (BIAV) has elected Mark Crockford as its President for 2016-2018, at its board of management meeting held on 23 February 2017 at Marine House.

“I’m both overwhelmed by my appointment as President and the confidence placed on me by my fellow board of directors,” said newly elected BIAV President, Mark Crockford.

A highly experienced marine insurance professional, Crockford is the national marketing director for Nautilus Insurance and possesses over 32 years of experience in the finance and insurance sector.  He is a founding director of Nautilus Marine Insurance which was established in 2005 and prior to that held various positions including as state manager for Victoria and Tasmania for Club Marine.

“We’re going through both challenging and exciting times in the marine industry,” said Crockford. “However with the depth of experience and skillsets of members on the BIAV Board, we have the capabilities to meeting all our challenges and more importantly driving the industry forward.”

Crockford stated that he was also excited at the appointment of John Temple and what’s ahead for the association, “everything is looking positive for a highly successful Melbourne Boat Show, we will continue to drive Life’s Better With A Boat and deliver a strong voice both local, state and federal government to improve infrastructure around our waterways in Victoria.”

Together with the election of Crockford as President, the board also elected Neil Hancock, managing director of Aussie Boat Covers, as the association’s Vice President.  Hancock also possess over 32 years in the marine industry, having begun his career in auto and marine trimming.  In addition to running a successful marine trimming and upholstery business from St Kilda Marina, Hancock is also heavily involved with education in the marine industry, serving both as an instructor with Holmesglen Institute and is chair of the BIAV Education Committee.

Both Crockford and Hancock together make up part of the newly elected BIAV board of management which include:
