Car Ferry Business Case Released for Community Feedback
Bass Coast and Mornington Peninsula Shire Councils, with the Victorian Government, have worked together to develop a Draft Business Case to determine the cost, requirements and viability of a vehicle and passenger ferry service between Stony Point, French Island and Cowes.
Mornington Peninsula Shire Council has received the draft Business Case for a Car Ferry between Cowes and Stony Point and has placed it on public exhibition for feedback.
You can view the draft Business Case at mornpen.vic.gov.au/haveyoursay or hard copies can be viewed at any of Council’s Customer Service Centres or at Visitor Information Centres.
The draft Business Case will be open for community feedback until 5pm 6 April 2018.
The business case outlines the social, environmental and economic contributions and possible impacts of the Car Ferry.
Mornington Peninsula Shire Mayor Councillor Bryan Payne encourages local community members to have their say on this important initiative.
“The project is consistent with the Shire’s Economic Development Strategy 2016-2019 and the Mornington Peninsula Regional Tourism Board’s Destination Management Plan 2014”.
“We are looking forward to working with our community to help them learn more about this initiative.
“We hope residents will embrace this opportunity to make decisions and discuss the priorities for the future of the Mornington Peninsula” concluded Councillor Payne.
Cerberus Ward Councillor Kate Roper said “I encourage the Cerberus community to take the time to have their say on this project which could bring a range of benefits to the local area”.
Once all the feedback has been considered, the draft Business Case will be presented at the Council meeting on 24 April where Council will look to endorse it for delivery to the state government for further evaluation.
