Leisure Boating goes Platinum at Boat Show

Tuesday, 12 May 2009

Leisure Boating Club Melbourne will have one of the most exclusive offers of the 49th Melbourne Boat Show, with the show debut of its Platinum Membership.

Early interest in Platinum suggests the new top-of-the-range level will be a big attraction at the Show, which runs from 2 to 6 July at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre.

Whereas existing memberships offer a choice of 14 or 28 days per year of luxury walk-on walk-off boating in a 10 or 11 metre boat, Platinum offers up to 28 days per year in a 12 metre Riviera cruiser that sleeps five in total comfort and is loaded with on-board luxuries.

Powered by 350 hp diesels and equipped with espresso machine, built-in ice maker and Zodiac tender, the big Riviera is worth around $600,000 but the Platinum package starts at $41,950 per year plus fuel.

Platinum members enjoy a full linen service plus training in night navigation as well as the Club’s standard daytime training.

Joy King from Leisure Boating Club Melbourne reports strong interest in Platinum, outstripping even the Select Starter Membership which costs under $10,000.

“It adds a new level to our concept of buying the lifestyle instead of buying the boat, in addition to our established five-star valet service, training and reciprocal rights with interstate Clubs,” she said.

“Early interest in Platinum proves that there are people seeking a true luxury experience if the quality and value are there.

“As a special Boat Show bonus, we will give a pair of ladies’ and men’s maritime wrist watches worth $600 for the first five new members to sign up at the Show, plus we will have a professional Barista offering visitors a free, top quality coffee with the compliments of Nestle Nespresso.”

Melbourne Boat Show runs from Thursday 2 July to Monday 6 July at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre. Opening hours are 10am to 9pm daily except Sunday, when the show closes at 7pm, and Monday when it closes at 8pm.
